Congratulations to Brandon Compton, PE, a research engineer III in FDH Velocitel’s R&D group! Compton was recently awarded a College of Business Gold Graduate Student Scholarship by East Carolina University to pursue a Master of Business Administration. The prestigious, merit-based Gold Scholarship provides $12,000 (or $3,000/semester) for new students who wish to enroll in the online MBA program.
Compton, who has worked full time for FDH Velocitel for five years, also qualifies for the company’s tuition reimbursement program. FDH Velocitel will contribute an additional $5,250 per year toward expenses related to Compton’s MBA program.
The company’s tuition reimbursement benefit applies to regular full-time employees after 90 days of service who wish to pursue continuing education that relates to their job and that maintains or improves a skill required in their present position.
Compton recently completed his master’s in civil engineering at NC State University. His thesis, titled “Understanding the Behavior of a Trunnion Rod Anchorage Mechanism in a Concrete Dam,” was directly related to FDHV’s ongoing research on trunnion anchor rods for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Compton will begin the accelerated degree program in the spring 2016 semester while continuing to work full time. He plans to complete the program in two years.
